getting my nails dirty

i've finally started!

{sorry about the crooked picture}
some of you may remember this post when i made a goal for myself to get this darn kitchen painted.  it's been such an eyesore since i painted the rest of the house.  but, while my oldest was hanging out on the couch feeling sick and my youngest two were taking a class on the computer (it's only 30 minutes and that's not how they homeschool) i picked up my paintbrush and got painting!

i've almost got all the trim done, and the rest is easy as pie.  i'll have to do 2 coats to cover my stupid idea of using glossy paint in the kitchen. i don't know about you, but my kids think the walls are there to support their bodies as they traverse through my home.  i can't imagine why?  maybe because they know it would aggravate me?  oh, no, not my kids!

as i was painting, i noticed this nice piece of painters tape.  it's been there since i painted green.  i just won't tell you how long ago that was.  i guess i never noticed it?  yes, that's it.  i never knew it was there.
ahem.

{also, don't mind the spots on the ceiling...i'm not done yet!}
speaking of painters tape, i don't use any.  this particular spot is close to the cabinet so that's probably why i used it, but i don't have any today and wouldn't even consider using it.  i find it's only necessary if you are using one of those terrible edger things.  i use a slanted paintbrush to edge.  it works sooo much better!  try it.  use tape if you're scared  ;-)

it'll be all done later today and i even explain how happy i'll be!!

we'll homeschool while i'm waiting for the first coat to dry and  if i can keep myself motivated, maybe i can finish those curtains i've been wanting to make?

{the paint color is smooth stone by behr.  i'm using dutch boy paint in eggshell}

I love painting - I should say only on my terms and not large areas, so maybe I'm a painting snob ;-)
No, I guess I really like the outcome - the big change.
Congrats on getting another thing off of your list! Mine just keeps growing.

I've never painted myself because it's always seemed like such a huge task, but you knock it out in a few hours like it's nothing.

Oh, and I totally loved the green...but white is good too. ☺
